Yay! We finally finished our innovation project of helping to break the grade barrier, and to start new friendships with others. Unfortunately, I was unable to attend and be a part of it, as I attend the Math and Science Center, so I have a different lunch time. However, from what Haydin and Taylor told me, the lunch swap went over really well. Since we ate in the classroom because of the Funeral, it made it more congested, but also forced conversation between partners. Everyone brought a lunch, and everyone got a lunch. Overall, I think that this was a great innovation project with an amazing outcome!

This week definitely didn't go as planned. We started off on the right foot getting all the freshmen and most of the seniors like we had planned. However, afterwards it went downhill. Both Haydin and I got overwhelmed with homework, and with Haydin having her AP US History test it threw us back a day, leaving us behind. We didn't get the sheets out to people to tell them their partner. So, the date has been moved, and since it is a busy week next week, we will have to come up with a new plan and schedule as to when we will assign the sheets and the day our project will take place. Next week this is what we plan on doing as well as talking to Mrs. Heddinger to see what day is good for her!
Today Haydin, Taylor, and I finished getting the rest of the seniors, and got all the freshmen today! Tomorrow after our Lit Circle discussions, we plan on matching the people up, and put up flyers around the school to prevent students from forgetting. On Monday, we are hoping to get everyone their person, giving enough time to prepare a lunch. Announcements will be said in the morning also as a reminder to prevent people not getting their desired lunch. On Friday, our lunch social shall take place. Meaning, that our innovation project will come to a close and we will start another smaller project to coast us through till the end of the year:)
This week Haydin and I went around during our innovation period to different classrooms to get people to fill out the papers. We reached Mrs. Niesen's room, Mrs. Warner's room, and Mrs. Janke's room. With that being said, we have nearly all the juniors and a good portion of the sophomores done. While Haydin and I were doing this during our innovation time on Friday, Taylor created flyers to hang up around the school to help remind people to bring their lunches. Next week we plan to hit Mrs. Krayjewski's class, Mrs. Millers class, and the Spanish room.
This week temporarily plateaued, and it is my fault. I got hung up at the center, which left to me forgetting to leaving early. We planned on coming back for class meetings that Friday to hand out papers and to get everyone to fill the forms out. Since I failed to do so, we didn't accomplish anything otherwise. However, this week I plan to work extra hard to make up for this lost week. We plan on getting papers filled out and start to look over everyone's preferences, making sure they are do-able.
This week, Taylor H. was also joined into our project. On Thursday of this week Haydin and I made 135 copies of the lunch sheets. On Friday we intended on going from classroom to classroom from advisory. However, I had to take a test at the center, and was unable to get back on time. Taylor also happened to be sick that day, so we called it off. Our plan this week is to ask teachers if it would be okay if we were to interrupt their 2rd hour classes, for students to fill the sheets out. We plan on filling them out within the next couple of weeks, because I will be leaving for Germany, and want to get it all organized and complete before I leave. Next innovation class, we plan on going to classrooms for students to fill out.
This week was a productive week in the process of getting our lunch social organized. Haydin and I emailed Mrs. Groat asking if our idea would be acceptable. She responded and gave us the okay, and thinks that it would be a good idea. The date has been confirmed for April 21. This idea is a great idea as it will create friendships between people who don't typically get together. Also this week, we made the sheets for students to fill out. Next class we are hoping to print them out and make a game plan of what classes we are going to visit to have them fill out the questionnaires, making sure not to forget anybody.
This may come out as upsetting news, but Haydin and I officially have decided to stop the progress of our project. I have volleyball tournaments every weekend preventing me from physically being at the event. Even though we dropped the project we have gained skills in thinking outside the box and using teamwork to get past road bumps. We started brainstorming and came across the idea of having a school wide lunch social. Each person would be assigned another person their lunch preferences and would get them a lunch, then sit with them. This would gain relationships with people that typically don't talk to each other. Next class we are planning on making the sheets for the students to fill out their preferred lunch, so we can pair them up.
This week we talked to Jeoy and Madi and they agreed to take care of the Humane society portion of the fundraiser. Haydin and I thought of ideas for advertising and came up with a list, as seen in the picture below. We also were brainstorming ideas to have as stations at the event. We were deciding to have the fundraiser in a Sunday as I have volleyball tournament every Saturday. We were thinking either May 7 or 21, so the weather will be nice. In the u,ding week we hope to talk to Madi and Joey to see their progress, and keep brainstorming ideas on stations.
